About Restaurant 1840

Great food, exceptionally served, in a unique setting. That is what is at the heart of Restaurant 1840.

Great dishes start with the best ingredients, so we work with as many small local suppliers as we can to highlight everything Shropshire has to offer. All our meat is British and we use fish caught sustainably in British waters.

 

Our wonderful food is perfectly complemented by our unique setting. Restaurant 1840 is set in a beautifully renovated former Methodist church. After standing empty for 10 years, our building was lovingly restored, with care to maintain as much of its original heritage as possible. Tables were converted from original church pews; stained glass has been specially designed to replicate the originals; and even the pulpit has been restored in the reception area.
